In short
TekDok connects you to a real person who helps you with your phone, tablet or computer. To do that we need your account details, what you asked for help with, and — if you pay for a call — your payment details. Your helper sees a short summary of your problem and, if you choose to share it, your screen while the call lasts. Nothing is recorded. We never sell your data. You can ask for a copy of everything we hold, or ask us to delete your account, from You → Account in the app.

1. Who we are
TEKDOK 55.AI AB, org.nr 559565-5894, Artillerigatan 6, 114 51 Stockholm, Sweden, is the data controller for the personal data described here. We have no Data Protection Officer: we are a small company and the law does not require one of us. That decision is recorded in our data protection impact assessment and we will revisit it as we grow.
Privacy contact: privacy@mytekdok.com.
2. What we collect, why, and on what legal basis
| What | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, password or passkey, date of birth, tech-comfort level | To give you an account and keep it secure | Performance of our contract with you |
| Your address or approximate location | To find helpers near you | Performance of our contract |
| What you say when you ask for help: the audio, its transcript, and the short brief written from it | To understand your problem and pass it to a helper | Performance of our contract, and your consent for the audio |
| Calls: who, when, how long, and the summary written afterwards | To show you your history, settle disputes and keep both sides safe | Performance of our contract, and our legitimate interest in safety |
| Payment details and charges | To bill you for the time you used | Performance of our contract, and legal obligation (bookkeeping) |
| Device and network details, push notification tokens | To show your helper what device you have and to alert helpers to your call | Performance of our contract, and your consent given through your device’s notification prompt |
| Aggregate statistics, such as average waiting time | To run and improve the service | Our legitimate interest. Figures are only shown once enough calls exist that no individual can be identified |
| Administrator activity records | To detect mistakes and misuse | Our legitimate interest in operating safely |
Speech is special. When you describe a problem out loud you may mention your health, your family or your money. We treat the audio and its transcript as sensitive: you choose when to speak, the transcript is used only to help you, and both are erased on the schedule in section 6. If you would rather not speak, you can type or pick a category instead.
3. What your helper sees — and what they do not
Your helper sees your first name, the short brief of your problem, the kind of device you have, and your screen if you choose to share it. Screen sharing is live only: it is never recorded, never stored, and you can stop it at any moment.
Your helper does not see your email address, your postal address, your date of birth, your payment details or your call history. Never type a password, a bank code or a one-time code while sharing your screen, and never let a helper ask you for one. If one does, report them from the summary screen after the call and we will look into it.
4. Artificial intelligence
One AI model — Claude, from Anthropic — reads what you said and writes the short brief your helper sees, along with a few suggested self-help steps. That is the only automated processing in the service.
No decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on you is made automatically (GDPR Art. 22): a human helper decides whether to take your call, and a human decides everything during it. Your data is not used to train any AI model.
5. Who else processes your data
We use a small number of suppliers to run the service — hosting, speech-to-text, video, payments, push notifications and email. Each of them processes your data only on our instructions, under a written data processing agreement. The complete, current list, with what each one receives, where it is, and what makes any transfer outside the EEA lawful, is on its own page: Sub-processors. We keep it separate so it stays accurate without us rewriting this policy.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
6. How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account and profile | Until you delete it |
| Help request audio | Not stored after the transcript is made |
| Transcript, AI brief and self-help steps | 90 days, then erased from the request |
| A help request nobody answered | 30 days |
| Calls, their length and what they cost | Until the end of the seventh year after the call — Swedish bookkeeping law |
| Call summaries in your manual | Until you delete the entry or your account |
| Sign-in sessions | Until they expire |
| Administrator activity records | Retained; names and emails in them are removed after 90 days |
If you delete an account that has calls attached, we cannot delete the calls themselves — the law requires us to keep them. We remove everything that identifies you instead, leaving an anonymous record.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data (You → Account → Download my data gives it to you at once);
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your account (You → Account → Delete account);
- restrict or object to processing we do on the basis of legitimate interest;
- withdraw a consent you gave — for instance by turning off notifications, or by not speaking your request.
Write to privacy@mytekdok.com and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY: imy.se.
8. How we protect your data
Passwords are stored only as strong hashes, and we support passkeys so you need no password at all. Everything travels over encrypted connections. Our database and file storage are pinned to the EU. Every query is scoped to the signed-in account, helpers are approved by hand before they can take calls, and administrator access is limited and recorded. We test for data leaking between accounts on every change.
9. Cookies and local storage
We use no advertising or analytics cookies, so there is no cookie banner to click.
| Name | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in |
| TEKDOK_LOCALE | Remembers your language |
| tektok_demo | Remembers that you switched demonstration mode on |
| Local storage | Remembers your text size and contrast settings |
All of these are strictly necessary for the service to work. If we ever add analytics we will ask for your consent first.
10. Children and family accounts
TekDok is for adults. You must be 18 or older to have an account, whether as a caller or a helper.
A family member can be added to your family list so you can ask for help on their behalf. Adding someone stores the name, relation and town you type in, and the email address you invite them with. It does not give you access to their account, their calls or their manual.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change something important we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before you carry on. The date at the top of this page is the version currently in force.
